What Benefits Fibromyalgia Sufferers

By John Gardner

HTP is a very beneficial drug for a lot of diseases that have to do with depression, anxiety and insomnia. Many people, suffering from the terrible disease fibromyalgia, are trying out HTP, a very potent natural dietary supplement, to help them. Mounting evidence shows it's quite possible that L-5-hydroxytryptophan, or 5HTP, can improve the symptoms of those suffering from the chronic pain and lack of energy associated with fibromyalgia syndrome.

Every person, suffering from fibromyalgia, seems to have a set of symptoms, that they present. These include painful sensations spread over large areas of the body and an achy stiffness and pressure-sensitive tenderness in multiple locations, lasting three months or more. People suffering from fibromyalgia have digestive disorders, lack of regular sleep and they almost always complain about lack of energy. Frequent headaches, facial discomfort, and neck and shoulder stiffness are also commonly observed. The sensitivity of the patients gets heightened during the disease, creating intolerance to odors, loudness, bright or low lights, but there are other symptoms as well like tingling or numbness in hands and feet, swelling in the joints, skin loses moisture, they feel disoriented and complain of chest pain. Persons suffering from fibromyalgia have a chronic tendency of depression and easily experience anxiety.

A number of research articles have appeared in the Journal of International Medical Research on the relationship between an improvement in fibromyalgia and 5HTP regimens. A unique study has announced that the use of 5HTP has very beneficiary effects on the symptoms of fibromyalgia. A second study went on to confirm the announcements, and enhanced it, by stating that at least 50% of the fibromyalgia patients reported a sustained relief of the symptoms.

5HTP has proven to positively impact a variety of symptoms of fibromyalgia, but it is most effective in reducing pain, sleeplessness and depression. There are many other benefits, the most interesting of them is minimizing carbohydrate cravings, which directly acts as an aid to weight loss. Obesity often goes hand-in-hand with fibromyalgia because of lessened physical activity.

5HTP is usually produced from Griffonia plant seeds. Our body takes 5HTP, which are essentially amino acids, and changes them to serotonin. For those who do not know, serotonin is the neurotransmitter which is answerable for the moods and controls hunger. It's transformed into melatonin, which regulates sleep, in the pineal gland of the brain. One could opt for another known amino acid called tryptophan, which is quite similar to 5HTP in properties, with two major differences, namely it cannot processed by the body so easily and does not have results, that are as efficient.

There seems to be a direct relationship between fibromyalgia and the low quantity of serotonin in the body. From the observations, it is easy to arrive at the hypothesis that when the body is unable to produce enough serotonin, it leads to fibromyalgia and related symptoms, pending scientific confirmation. There are also multiple studies, which seem to conclusively prove, that a high amount of serotonin in the brain has shown direct relief in the symptoms of fibromyalgia. In the most common cases, a dosage of 300mg is prescribed to be taken, in three equal parts, with the major meals of the day, accompanied by a full glass of water. Before you start taking the supplement 5HTP, it would be smart to seek medical advice and recommendation. It is important that you seek medical advice and avoid taking 5HTP when you are already taking medication to control depression or anti-Parkinson's disease.
