Fibromyalgia Specialist

By Dr. Steven Yen

Just like everything else in life, when you decide to assume control then you MUST know the facts. With fibromyalgia treatment, you need to educate yourself as much as possible about fibromyalgia, IBS, Nervous Leg Syndrome, and Prolonged Fatigue Syndrome.

By educating yourself, you can see that you can't just rely on your health practitioner to"fix" you with some tablet or a surgery... If you do, your relief may never come. You should get the facts because with education comes empowerment. Empowerment shows the way to a positive attitude, and positive changes. These things will at last bring a sense of accomplishment and you'll often find that you will get improvement in your fibromyalgia symptoms.

The most critical thing to remember when teaching yourself and looking for a fibromyalgia specialist is to ALWAYS take into account that most importantly, you are number one! Listen to your body because only you know exactly how you're feeling. Be certain to tell your GP exactly how you're feeling because when you hurt, that is a tell-tale sign that Something's Wrong.

Now when searching for a clinician to treat your fibro pain, find one who is going to actually spend some time with you during your visit! Your doctor should spend more than 15 minutes with you! The fibromyalgia specialist could be more than familiar with the condition but if you don't get the time that you deserve, I can guarantee their treatment won't be as effective as it could be.

It's very maddening when my patients talk to me about the time they have spent in other doctors offices. It appears like they spend most of their time just sitting in the waiting lounge and not a lot of time with the specialist.

Make sure you find a consultant who cares about YOU and who will hear ALL of your questions! Fibromyalgia is a tough condition and you should not have to go through it alone.

Nothing good comes from feeling like just a number to your doctor instead of a real person with real discomfort. Find an expert who will take a little time to hear your worries, your questions, and how you are feeling. Demand that your GP gets to the bottom if it and don't let anyone, particularly not your consultant, make it obvious that your discomfort is "all in your head. ".

Natural Fibromyalgia Relief

By Dr. Sarah Johnson

Much Confusion over Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia is found in the medical community.

A recent news article discussed Dr. Jacob Teitelbaum a medical doctor and a chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia researcher who has found, the drug focused medical approach inadequate. He also discussed the confusion and frustration that many people with chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia are experiencing.

Dr. Teitelbaum said "In spite of whatever doctors may have said to you in the past, the disease is real and you are not crazy".

The article reported that Teitelbaum himself suffered from fibromyalgia when he was in medical school and had to drop out for a year to recover. The disease left him homeless and sleeping on park benches. Due to this defining period, Teitelbaum has dedicated his professional life to leading scientific research, finding treatments and helping others with these illnesses.

The trouble with CFS and FM - diseases that have afflicted everyone from Florence Nightingale to JFK - starts with differentiating between the two. According to Teitelbaum, they are simply two names for the same process.

"If you go to see an infectious disease doctor, you will have chronic fatigue syndrome," Teitelbaum says with a laugh. "If you go out of their offices next door to see a rheumatologist, you will have fibromyalgia."

Drug-Free Relief of Chronic Fatigue or Fibromyalgia

Teitelbaum uses the SHINE acronym to help people address their chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia symptoms naturally: sleep, hormones, immunity, nutrition and exercise. Simply put, you should get adequate sleep, get tested for hormone deficiencies, get treatment for infections, maintain a healthy diet and exercise. Following these steps can improve patients' health by 75 per cent after three months, one study found.

The area that Dr. Teitelbaum missed is the effect of head and neck trauma on the spine and nervous system in people suffering with fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue. Research is showing that those suffering with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue frequently have a history of head or neck trauma. These traumas can lead to a structural misalignment of the bones in the upper neck leading to changes in blood, cerebral spinal fluid and nerve flow to and from the brain.

In a study published by Dr. William Amalu, and upper cervical chiropractor and researcher, he found a 92% to 100% reduction in fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue symptoms in 23 patients after addressing an upper neck misalignment caused by head and neck trauma.

Here's a quote from one of the case studies included in the research report:

"The patient continued to improve over the next few weeks with complete resolution of her FMS and CFS. The patient returned to full-time work during this time and experienced only two minor temporary exacerbations in her condition. Over the past two years, the patient has been seen on a check-up basis of four times per year. She remains FMS and CFS free with only an occasional sore neck due to long deskwork hours."

Drug-free relief of chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia symptoms is possible!

Find out if you're a candidate for this type of care today.
